With the economy going downhill, are you using cheaper recipes? How are you making your food go further?

I anm making modifications %26amp; finding it fun, plus using my Grandma's old cookbook. With the economy going downhill, are you using cheaper recipes? How are you making your food go further?
Cottage pie - it's filling and cheap and when you live alone you can freeze an enormous amount down.

I cook in bulk, and freeze it all in me or baby size portions. Other favourites are: Spag Bol (not the pasta though), Chilli, Chicken in sauce with Rice, Homemade burgers, homemade fishcakes, Fish pie. My list is endless lol.

But buying in bulk and cooking it all at once is how I really save money on food. With the economy going downhill, are you using cheaper recipes? How are you making your food go further?
I would if I could, but I stick to stores like Whole Foods %26amp; Trader Joe's because I am leery about genetically modified foods, and now they are doing it with the animals, and cloning them, too.
I have cut down the amount of food I eat and am always looking out for bargains. I also look for heavily reduced items that have a very short shelf life (most things can be safely frozen i.e. cheap fresh meat). I am also going to delay putting the central heating on by one extra month.
Stop eating animals.Grow your own veg and fruit.Exercise more,as it makes you less hungry.Stop going to the pub.Never eat ready meals.Use the two ends of any loaves.Do not peel veg or fruit....make enough food for 3 days on each cooking session
