In recipes, if they say 1 cup of flour, what type of flour do they mean?

When they just say 1 cup of flour,


is it


whole meal


all purpose


self raising


pastry flour





which one?


BY THE WAY im trying to make a sweet bread. that might be some help.In recipes, if they say 1 cup of flour, what type of flour do they mean?
unless directed otherwise it's all purpose. Sometimes there are directions that call for a specific type of flour, but if it is just flour then your fine. Also sometimes you just have to sift the flour if directed, that is also all purpose flour.In recipes, if they say 1 cup of flour, what type of flour do they mean?
they mean all purpose ....... if they want you to use a specific type of flour they will indicate it in the recipe
With this particular recipe it probably doesn't matter. Use whatever flour you have in your cupboard.
If not specified by the recipe, it's all purpose. If your sweet bread is a yeast bread, high gluten flour makes the best texture but you can use a good all purpose flour.
for the sweet bread you are making you should use Self-rising flour.





if your making a yeast bread then you would use All-purpose flour








the difference is there is there is baking powder %26amp; salt already in the Self-rising flour

Unless a recipe specifies a specific flour, I assume the writer of the recipe is speaking of all-purpose flour.

yeah dear well its mean all purpose, you can use this for sweet bread. !! wow i love sweet bread !!
umm I think its all purpose flower, if it was anything else the recipe would specify what kind of flour.
i would think all purpose just because its the most basic and universal most people have this type of flour on hand
